Football Skating is the name of the sport as a whole. It represents the wider international sporting identity governed and developed by Federation International Football Skating (FIFS).

Under the official framework of FIFS, Football Skating is developed through a number of recognized disciplines, each of which reflects a different technical expression, playing environment, and style of the sport while remaining connected to one unified global structure.

This approach allows FIFS to preserve the identity of Football Skating as one sport while at the same time supporting diversity, creativity, and technical growth through its official disciplines.

The Official Disciplines of FIFS

At present, FIFS officially governs and develops the following disciplines:

• RollerSoccer

Each discipline has its own distinctive character, technical pathway, and development potential, but all of them operate under the wider international identity and authority of Football Skating through FIFS.

Why the Discipline Structure Matters

The discipline structure of FIFS is important because it allows the sport to grow in a more complete, flexible, and modern way.

Rather than limiting Football Skating to a single fixed format, FIFS recognizes that the sport has evolved through different environments, technical models, and creative expressions. By officially structuring these disciplines under one world federation, FIFS creates a stronger and more professional international platform for development, events, education, competition, and recognition.

This model also helps the federation support different regions and communities of the sport while preserving unity under one official governing body.

Competition Formats Across Disciplines

Under the official framework of FIFS, competition formats may differ from one discipline to another according to the technical identity, historical pathway, and international structure of that discipline.

In general terms:

• RollerSoccer is primarily developed through club-based competitions, including club championships, leagues, and international or continental club formats.
• FUTINS may be organized through both club-based and national-team-based competition formats, depending on the event structure approved by FIFS.
• Ice Football Skating may also be organized through both club and national representative formats. While the team structure and the general logic of play remain connected to the wider Football Skating identity, the format of scoring, the match regulations, and the laws of the game differ from FUTINS and RollerSoccer. In Ice Football Skating, the goal format and scoring method are developed according to the specific technical character of the discipline and are not simply a copy of other formats.
• Freestyle Football Skating may be developed through multiple competition structures depending on the nature of the event. It may be organized at national level, club level, individual level, team level, or through open international tournament formats. In some events, a single athlete may compete individually. In other events, teams such as three-person groups may compete together as one unit. These teams may be mixed and may include both female and male athletes within the same group, depending on the approved event format.
• In selected Open International Tournaments, participants in Freestyle Football Skating may compete as independent private groups without necessarily being officially entered through a club or national federation, provided that the event format approved by FIFS or the relevant continental federation allows such participation.

This flexible model allows FIFS to support each discipline according to its own development pathway while preserving the wider unity of Football Skating as one sport.

In selected cases, especially in relation to FUTINS, FIFS may also approve different gender competition formats depending on the host country, local regulations, cultural context, and event conditions.

Where a host country is not in a position to organize a mixed-gender category due to legal, religious, regulatory, or local structural considerations, FIFS may review and approve an alternative format in which a separate women’s team and a separate men’s team participate in the event.

This approach reflects the federation’s commitment to both flexibility and international expansion, while respecting local realities when officially justified and approved within the federation’s competition framework.

FUTINS

FUTINS is one of the official disciplines governed by FIFS and represents an important part of the international development history of Football Skating.

The discipline is historically connected to Brazil and has played an important role in shaping the global identity of the sport in its modern era. FUTINS reflects one of the organized technical expressions of Football Skating and continues to hold significance within the wider federation structure.

Under FIFS, FUTINS continues its development as an official discipline with its own history, technical value, and future role in the global expansion of the sport.

RollerSoccer

RollerSoccer is one of the official disciplines governed by FIFS and represents one of the most recognized organized forms of Football Skating in the sport’s international development.

The discipline is historically connected to the modern organization of the sport in the United States and later played a major role in international expansion through clubs, competitions, and global visibility.

Within the structure of FIFS, RollerSoccer remains an important official discipline and continues to contribute to the wider identity, technical variety, and international reach of Football Skating.

Ice Football Skating

Ice Football Skating represents the ice-based official discipline of Football Skating under FIFS.

This discipline expands the sport into a different technical environment while preserving the same wider spirit of movement, skill, control, and football-based play that defines Football Skating as a whole.

Its development reflects the federation’s commitment to innovation, versatility, and broader future possibilities for the sport across different surfaces and formats.

Freestyle Football Skating

Freestyle Football Skating is the official freestyle discipline under FIFS and reflects the creative and technical side of the sport.
